Our Adult Choir sings at the
11:00
a.m. Mass each Sunday.
New members are welcome on an ongoing basis.
No auditions necessary. Just a love of singing and a desire
to enhance
the beauty of our liturgical celebrations!
Like all
parishioners, choir members are members of the
general assembly. However, we use our time and talents
to fulfill a special mission - we strive to add greater beauty
solemnity and meaning to the liturgies and sacraments.
We also are commissioned to encourage congregational
singing and participation in the liturgy. The music we
share can illuminate, invite and inspire - and it can also
be a source of comfort, joy, healing and conversion.
In the process
of learning our music, we express our love of God with
our whole person...body, mind and soul. Of course there is
time to share our experiences socially as well as our voices.
Rehearsals are Tuesday evening, 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the choir loft
The choir season typically runs from September through beginning of June.

"The musical tradition of the universal church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as a combination of sacred music and words, it forms a necessary or integral part of solemn liturgy'. The composition and singing of inspired psalms, often accompanied by musical instruments, were already closely linked to the liturgical celebrations of the Old Covenant. The Church continues and develops this tradition: Address one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making music to the Lord with all your heart.......He who sings prays twice."
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 1156, Page 298, 299)
To Michael and the Choir:
Thanks so much
for such a beautiful Mass last night
(REQUIEM, John Rutter). Please make this an annual event!
For me personally it was a life changing event.
I just really want to thank you again for all your
hard work and dedication to your Music Ministry.
God bless you always,
Mary
To Michael, Choir and Musicians
I am always appreciative of the
time, talent and dedication
you all bring to our liturgical celebrations. However, you outdid
yourselves at the Holy Week services. The music integrated
so well with each day's remembrance. Not only were the
selections thoughtfully chosen, but the skills you all bring
to us were very evident. You helped make our services
meaningful and well-worth remembering. Thank you all!
Sincerely,
Joan
